`Wild Ride Through God's Word' theme of upcoming VBS |
Joyful Servant Lutheran
Church will hold its annual vacation Bible school daily from 6:30 to
8:30 p.m. June 24-28. It is geared toward children entering
preschool to fifth-grade.
Each day will focus on a different story from the Bible, said
Jackie Calonder, the church’s Christian education director. Each
lesson will include a short movie viewed outside underneath camping
awning, snacks, crafts and music. The theme is “Wild Ride Through
God’s Word.”
Day 1 will start with Jeremiah 10:10: “But the Lord is God in
truth.” The second day will consider Joshua 1:9: “For the Lord your
God is with you wherever you go.” Day 3 will be Psalm 118:4: “The
Lord is my refuge and defense, and he has become my deliverer.” Day
4 will be Psalm 47:2: “How fearful is the Lord most high, great
sovereign over all the earth!” Day 5 will be John 14:15: “If you
love me, you will obey my commands.”
Each student will receive to take home a Bible buddy; Calonder
described those as small plastic characters. The Bible buddies are
related to the different stories and help in illustrating them and
the point that God is real, she said. Closing night will be family
night with a dinner at 5:45 p.m.
