Vacation Bible schools abound in Newberg |
Summer is underway and a
number of area churches have scheduled vacation Bible school
programs throughout the months of June, July and August. Unless
otherwise stated, the programs are free of charge.
Newberg Christian Church
Newberg Christian Church will hold its “Avalanche Ranch” VBS from 9
to 11:15 a.m. July 16-20 at the church, 2315 Villa Road. It is open
to children 4-years-old through middle school.

Joyful Servant Lutheran Church
Joyful Servant Lutheran Church will hold VBS from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m.
Monday through Thursday at the church, 1716 Villa Road. It is geared
toward children entering preschool to fifth-grade. Each day will
focus on a different story from the Bible. Lessons include a short
movie, viewed outside underneath an awning, as well as snacks,
crafts and music. The theme is “Wild Ride through God’s Word.”

Chehalem Valley Baptist Church
Chehalem Valley Baptist Church will hold its VBS from 9 a.m. to
12:15 p.m. June 25-29 at the church, 26155 N.E. Bell Road. It is
open to children three-years-old through sixth grade. Young children
must be toilet trained to participate.

First Presbyterian Church
First Presbyterian Church will hold its VBS from 9 a.m. to noon
Monday through Friday at the church, 501 Mission Drive. It is open
to children preschool to fifth-grade. This year’s theme is “SonLight
Island,” focusing on Corinthians 1:13. Songs, skits, crafts and
games will be used to teach Bible lessons.

First United Methodist Church
First United Methodist Church will hold its VBS from 9 a.m. to noon
Aug. 6-10 at the church, 1205 Deborah Road. The program, targeted at
children preschool to fifth-grade, will offer a parallel between the
world of hot-air ballooning and God. Bible stories are included in
each lesson as well as science activities, songs, crafts, games and
snacks.

Church of the Nazarene
The Church of the Nazarene will hold its VBS from 6 to 8 p.m. July
30 through Aug. 3 at the church, 23177 Old Yamhill Road. The theme,
“Son Force Agency,” is geared toward children preschool through
fifth-grade.

Open Bible Church
Open Bible Church’s “Exploring the Northwest” summer program runs
now through the end of August. Activities include games, songs and
field trips. The program is open to children 2 through 12 years of
age. Monthly cost for the program is $135 for two mornings per week,
$195 for three mornings per week or $330 for five mornings per week.
Registration is required.
