Selections from Handel’s “Messiah”
will be performed at 3 p.m. Sunday at First United Methodist Church,
1205 N. Deborah Road.
A festival chorus composed of George Fox University students and
faculty, as well as community singers from Newberg, Portland,
Dayton, West Linn and McMinnville, will perform the piece.
The selected solos and choruses emphasize the Easter and Redemption
portions of Handel’s masterwork. Soloists will include students,
faculty and alumni of the university. Dr. David Howard, professor
emeritus of GFU, will accompany the performance on the pipe organ.
The chorus is under the direction of John Bowman, GFU music
professor.
No admission will be charged, but a freewill offering will be taken
to help cover the expenses of the performance. |
