Local firearm dealers’ shelves are bare with interest in gun ownership at a fever pitch

Assault- or military-style rifles are among the most difficult-to-find weapons during a recent surge in gun sales, as they may be banned if new legislation called for by President Barack Obama clears Congress.
   In December 2011, the Yamhill County Sheriff’s Office received 76 applications for concealed-handgun licenses (CHLs).
