Beloved pet —
Phil White cuddles his treasured cat, William, whom he brought to Newberg from England in 2010 after the feline underwent more than $7,000 in surgeries and blood transfusions for life-threatening injuries. The cat was euthanized by a Newberg animal control officer on Sept. 3 after behaving erratically.
Until Sept. 3, William was probably the most expensive cat in Newberg. Just to get him over here from the United Kingdom two years ago, owner Phil White had to pay $400 for William’s plane ticket, $250 for his travel-related vaccines, $100 for a special carrying case that would fit under the plane seat, and $80 for a cat passport.
