The Pioneer Mothers Memorial Cabin was once again threatened by rising waters last month amidst heavy rains. The Oregon chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution hopes to secure funding to move the cabin to higher ground by the end of the year.
As relentless rains pelted the area and the waters of the Willamette River swelled in mid-January, the group behind the Pioneer Mothers Memorial Cabin in Champoeg State Heritage Area moved all the historic artifacts out of the structure and held their breaths.
