The pilot of a Piper Aircraft PA-44 Seminole was able to land in a field adjacent to Champoeg State Heritage Area after colliding with another airplane last month.
Two small planes collided over the Willamette River Tuesday afternoon and one crashed shortly after, taking the life of a retired Oregon State Police trooper.
