Grace E. Conrad
   Grace Elda Conrad of Newberg died Jan. 17, 2010. She was 85.
   She was born Oct. 8, 1924, in Czar, W.V., to Abraham and Myrtle (Snyder) Cutright.
   She married Charles Conrad in West Virginia in 1943. They moved to California in 1948 and later to Oregon. They lived in Sherwood for 25 years, until he preceded her in death. She moved to Newberg. She worked at Birds Eye, Newberg Care Home and King City Convalescent Home.
   She enjoyed Bible study, exercise classes, baking and cooking, word puzzles, soap operas and spending time with friends and family.
   Survivors include: sons, Charles of Toledo and Ralph of Dundee; sisters, Frances McKinney of California and Hazel Cutright of West Virginia; brother Floyd of West Virginia; five grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.
   She was also preceded in death by daughter Lori Ann and sisters Pauline and Gladys.
   A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday in Attrell’s Newberg Funeral Chapel with Pastor Steven Jaquith officiating. A private committal will take place at Valley View Memorial Park. Online condolences may be made at www.attrells.com

Laurene Gardner
   Laurene M. Gardner, formerly of Newberg, died Jan. 23, 2010, in McMinnville. She was 88.
   She was born April 30, 1921, in Wichita, Kan., to Alvin and Nora Brown. On June 15, 1941, she married Eugene Gardner in Vancouver, Wash. They raised their family in Newberg and later in Keizer.
   She was a homemaker and enjoyed square dancing.
   Survivors include: sons, Dennis of McMinnville and Kerry of Maple Valley, Wash.; daughters, Nancy Janac of Salem and Patty Kerr of Lincoln City; 13 grandchildren and numerous great-grandchildren.
  A funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday in Restlawn Funeral Home in Salem. Committal will take place in Restlawn Memory Gardens.
