PORTLAND — Students needing financial aid to pay for college can receive information at Portland Community College later this month.
The college’s annual Financial Aid Day will be held from 9 a.m. to noon Jan. 30 and is an opportunity for current and future students to receive help in filling out the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) form. Students don’t need to be enrolled at PCC to participate in Financial Aid Day, which will be held at four locations around the college district.
Congress and the state of Oregon have greatly increased the money available for grants. At the very least, students may receive a low-interest student loan, but if they qualify, may also receive free money in the form of gran
ts from the federal government, the state and PCC.
Students or prospective students can call the financial aid office at 503-977-4934. The four campuses hosting financial aid day are:
— Cascade Campus, 705 N. Killingsworth St. Call 503-978-5291 for more information.
— Rock Creek Campus, 17705 N.W. Springville Road. Call 503-614-7225 for more information.
— Sylvania Campus, 12000 S.W. 49th Ave. Call 503-977-8521 for more information.
— Southeast Center, 2305 S.E. 82nd Ave. Call 503-788-6252 for more information.
Students should bring their parents and should download the FAFSA form and fill it out as completely as possible prior to coming; the appropriate pre-application worksheet can be found at www.fafsa.ed.gov. Students and parents should bring their Social Security numbers, birth dates, financial aid PIN, information on income earned for 2009, a 2009 W-2 form, last pay stub from 2009 or 2008 tax return and current value of assets.
