Decorations and equipment went missing last weekend from a Newberg yard.
It’s a little early for Halloween mischief, but that was Jennell Hammer’s first thought when the decorations in her yard went missing.

“I thought it was a prank, but I asked around and no one fessed up,” she said of the apparent theft.

Hammer resides in the 3100 block of Princeton Street, where her husband has been getting into the Halloween spirit with home-made fake tombstones in the front yard.

“He carves them out of foam insulation,” Hammer said. “We’d done some that look like big monuments, and one even had lights inside on a timer — that equipment went missing too.”

Awaking Oct. 3 to find the decorations gone, Hammer contacted local police and wants neighbors to also be alert.

“They had to have a vehicle,” she said. “Mostly I just want people to know that this could be a problem for them as well.”
