James Pinneo
   James S. Pinneo of Newberg died Nov. 13, 2009. He was 87.
   He was born Jan. 15, 1922, in Newark, N.J., to Frank and Mable (Skilton) Pinneo. He attended The King’s College in New Castle, Del. In his third year of college he was drafted by the U.S. Army, serving in Europe during World War II.
   After leaving the Army, he finished his undergraduate degree at Houghton College, then entered medical school at Temple University in Philadelphia.
   He married Lois Castor on Aug. 18, 1951, and the couple embarked as missionaries to Glennallen, Alaska.
   “Dr. Jim” served at Faith Hospital in Glennallen (now the Cross Road Medical Center) for 33 years, retiring in 1987.  They continued to live in Alaska and serve on short-term medical missions with Operation Mobilization.
   In 1998, he was diagnosed with Parkinson’s disease and moved to Friendsview Retirement Community in 2001.
   Survivors include: wife Lois of Newberg; sister Lily Pinneo of Sebring, Fla.; sons, Jim of Newberg and Ken of Anchorage; daughters, Marilyn Walker of Wilmore, Ky., and Karen Lince of Hillsboro; 10 grandchildren and numerous great-grandchildren.
   He was preceded in death by sisters Joy Rugh and Rose Pinneo.
   A memorial service will be held Nov. 28 at Grace Baptist Church in Newberg.
