Middle school students at C.S. Lewis Academy packed boxes for Operation Christmas Child on Friday.
The boxes will go to less fortunate children in Third World countries.
In a box destined for a boy between the age of 2 and 4, seventh-grade student Tiffany Lemke packed socks, a coloring book, several packages of dental floss, and a box of crayons. Along with three other students she was filling out biographical information forms in case the recipient of their gift wanted to write back.
Operation Christmas Child is a ministry of the Samaritan Purse, a Christian relief organization shepherded by Franklin Graham, son of evangelist Billy Graham.
The items in the boxes have been donated locally as well as the $7 needed to ship them to their destination. A local couple, Bill and Maxine Mulholland, will haul the boxes to a sorting center in California where they’ve volunteered in years past.
