They deserve our praise

   We would like to congratulate some people that deserve some additional attention:
   Arianna Piscitelli and Alaena Wilfong of Newberg High School’s FFA team took gold honors at the National FFA convention.
   Their experiment that studied the growth of chickens not only produced some useful information, but their experiments also made a profit. We believe this program has helped a couple of students get well on their way to becoming valued additions to adulthood.
   Two other people at Newberg High School that we are a little late on congratulating include Frank Baumholtz, Oregon’s PE Teacher of the year, and Trish Beckius, who was named the greater Portland metro area’s top physics teacher. Baumholtz and Beckius are not only great educators, but great people who really care about our children.
   This time of year most of us have received our property tax statements and news like this gives us a good feeling that our tax dollars are being spent in the right places. 
   These students and teachers exemplify everything that is right with Newberg High School and we hope that others in our community live by their examples.
