Providence Health & Services announced Wednesday that Alan Olive has accepted the position of chief executive for Providence’s Yamhill Service Area, which includes Providence Newberg Medical Center.
“The Providence Mission and core values are at the heart of what I believe in,” Olive, who begins his new position Dec. 7, said in a press release. “I’m honored to be able to bring this passion to Newberg, and very excited to be part of a community that is so supportive of its hospital.”
Olive replaces Larry Bowe, who accepted in April a leadership position at Providence Holy Cross Medical Center in Mission Hills, Calif.
For the past seven years Olive has served as chief executive officer for Renown South Mea
dows Medical Center in Reno, Nev., where he was responsible for the operations of a 120-bed acute care hospital as well as an assisted living facility.
“Alan’s experience as a chief executive for a highly successful community hospital — coupled with his enthusiasm, dedication and energy — are great additions to Newberg,” said Terry Smith, chief operating officer for Providence in Oregon.
Olive joins Providence as planning continues for a hospital expansion and an additional medical office building in the Newberg area.
“I look forward to getting to know the communities we serve and return to an environment of a faith-based, principled organization.” he said. “I’m very impressed with the wonderful work and outstanding culture of Providence Newberg.”
A Reno native, Olive attended Brigham Young University, where he earned a bachelor’s degree in sociology. He also holds a master’s degree in health care administration from Loma Linda University. He is married and he and his wife have five children.
