Dobbes will expand its Dundee winery |
DUNDEE — Dobbes Family Estate
winery will expand its operations to a second building, located
across from the current facility (formerly known as the Pinot
Station) on Fifth Street.
The renovation of the former C&E Distributing facility, once the
headquarters of a manufactured home parts supplier, will increase
the winery’s size by 9,000 square feet.
“We’ve had two wineries for several years now,” explained
production manager Gretchen Boock. “We’ve been making whites in
Forest Grove, where we started the business in 2003, and the reds
here.”
Consolidating winery operations in a single site is a convenience
for all concerned, Boock added.
“(Owner) Joe Dobbes lives in Salem, so it’s closer for him, and
there’s a much greater efficiency for personnel and equipment,” she
said.
The winery plans to complete renovation and install 20 new tanks in
time for this year’s harvest. |
