Final Touches, Dad's to close doors |
After two and a half years on
First Street, Final Touches Wedding and Gifts is closing its doors,
but owner Lacey Carroll isn’t going anywhere.
“I started the business out of my home six years ago and that’s
where I’ll continue it,” she said. “Looking at how seasonal the
wedding industry is, the expense of keeping this place open
year-round canceled out the profits.”
Carroll said she plans to convert the garage of her home into a
showroom and dressing rooms for bridal accessories and formal wear.
“I’m a wedding consultant — I help plan the events as well as the
wardrobe,” she said. “It’s the same business it’s always been, but
this will allow me to meet clients without having to work around
regular store hours.”
Meanwhile, Dad’s Candy Shop — run by her husband David Carroll —
will also move to their home, selling gift baskets and doing booth
sales at local festivals.
Another advantage will be the opportunity to spend more time with
her children, Carroll said.
“My boys are 9 and 11 and I’m active in their Cub Scout troop and
the PTA,” she said.
While the store’s expected closing date is June 12, Carrol said
that she plans to hold a Valentine’s Day bazaar next year, as well
as one for the school prom season.
“I may rent the community center for fittings,” she said. |
