Winemakers buys Hyland Vineyards |
McMINNVILLE — Laurent
Montalieu and Danielle Andrus Montalieu of Soléna Cellars, in
partnership with Northwest Wine Company cofounder John Niemeyer of
Oregon Wine Services, have purchased the historic Hyland Vineyard
located northwest of the Bellevue intersection, about 5 miles
southwest of McMinnville.
The sale marks the first time the vineyard has changed ownership
outside of its founding partnership by the Kreimeyer, Markley, Welch
and Trenhaile families. While the property had been listed for more
than $4 million, the purchase price was undisclosed for the vineyard
and adjacent plantable parcels totaling just under 200 acres.
First planted in 1971, Hyland is of one of Oregon’s oldest and largest
vineyards, with 100 acres currently under vine and potential for
future development. Hyland grapes have been used in award-winning
wines by such local producers as Bergstrom, Torii Mor, Lange, Erath
and Sokol Blosser. |
