Managing editor Gary Allen is a Portland native with a degrees in photography and journalism from Blue Mountain Community College and Oregon State University. He began his journalism career with freelance assignments at the Daily Journal of Commerce, Canby Herald and The Oregonian, then was hired as a photojournalist at the Herald & News in Klamath Falls. He was hired in 1988 as design editor and photographer at The Newberg Graphic, became news editor in 1993 and managing editor in 2008.
His duties at the Graphic include coordinating coverage, photographing assignments, laying out and assembling pages, writing editorials and columns.
