Taking charge Quarterback Darnell Adams turns up field in the second quarter of Newberg's non-conference win over Reynolds Friday night at home.
Even if T.J. Tomlin leads the Newberg High School football team for the next 21 years, like Eric Carlson did before him, the first-year head coach may never experience a more thrilling victory the 32-27 comeback win over Reynolds the Tigers delivered in his first game as coach Friday night. A valiant effort that saw Newberg take a 26-14 lead at halftime appeared to be for naught when junior quarterback Darnell Adams’ scramble on fourth-and-two came up half a yard short with 2:02 to play and the Raiders leading 27-26.
