It is a pleasure to know both candidates for county commissioner this election. As a former member of the Yamhill County Budget Committee, having been born and raised in Yamhill County, knowing most previous county commissioners over the past 30 to 40 years, I have arrived at the decision that Allen Springer has the preferred experience needed to serve us best on the Board of Commissioners.

On Oct. 11, when I was walking on Fulton Street as it crossed over Hess Creek, I observed two young adult deer trotting up from the canyon to cross over Fulton Street and return into the canyon on the other side.

When I read the sad story of the death of the Samoyed dog Tarby and columnist Tyler Francke’s assertion that maybe the lesson to be learned is that because something is legal doesn’t mean it is the proper action, I get a much different feeling.
